How to Obtain API Access Key for UPS
In order to connect the application to UPS, you need the login details to UPS.com and UPS API Access key. To obtain UPS API Access Key, login to UPS using your username and password. Then click on Services => Integrating UPS Technology => UPS Developer Kit box.
You will then be taken to a new page. Locate and click on Learn About Integrating UPS Developer Kit APIs.
On this page, scroll down to Step 3: Developers: Download APIs and click on Access the UPS Developer Kit.
Click Request an access key located on the new page.
You will then be shown a form. Fill in all fields and then choose Request Access Key located at the bottom of that page.
This takes you to the confirmation page, which will show your access key and a table containing the list of Developer Resources and Access type. You will need the Access Key, so make sure you keep it in a safe place.
When you see the access type, it will either be Test or Production. If it is Production type, then congratulations! You can now proceed further. However, if it is Test, then you need to promote the access key to Production. To achieve this, simply go back to the UPS Developer kit page and click on the Manage Access Keys.
Insert the key into the Request Production Access section. Then, choose Request Production Access.
How to enable or disable a carrier
In the SHIPROW app, locate and click Marketplace from the side menu where you will be able to enable/disable carrier(s) from the given list. Please see the screenshot below:
Identify drop ship locations and warehouses
To add drop ship locations and warehouses, simply click the Location option given under Products and then choose Add Location. For warehouses, it is necessary to have a complete inventory of products; otherwise, it is considered drop shipped. If two or more warehouses are on the list, the one nearest to the shopper will be considered to calculate shipping rates.
Drop shipping is a method of supply chain management where a retailer does not keep products in stock. Instead, it transfers customer’s shipment information to another retailer or manufacturer who then delivers to the customer on your behalf. The checkout shopping cart will show a single figure estimate if drop shipped products are included in the order. The single figure rate represents the total after calculating shipping requirements for each item.
What Your Customer Sees
Congratulations! If you have completed all the preceding steps, your store on Shopify is ready to start quoting UPS services. Weight and dimensions for each product should be entered in order to achieve the best possible results. The accuracy of displayed rates during the checkout process will depend on the options you have chosen in the Quote Settings.
The screenshot below shows the example of a US domestic quote having the multiple standard service options enabled.
